The Inspiration
Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, fifty high teachers employed by Gaston County Schools in North Carolina began a three-year quest with Dr. Alan November. The Mission: Help students take ownership of their learning by inspiring them to find purpose and THE WHY of education, while preparing themselves and each other for the 21st century world of work.
The Lesson Plan
As a means of integrating junior English with a concentration in American literature, American History I & II, and the Videography course, students were assigned to make a student tutorial about a person, event, time period, or concept from United States History. A living document was created in Google Classroom for junior English students to facilitate this activity. Another document allowed for students in three classes to sign up for their desired topics on a first come; first served approval basis. For a copy of the lesson plan document, see link below.
